POLICE IN BANGWE RESCUE THIEF FROM BEING TORCHED TO DEATH

A man living in Blantyre’s Bangwe Township suspected to have stolen airtime was rescued just in time by the police before residents set him ablaze in what is to be known as mob justice.

However FaceofMalawi speaking to eye witnesses confirmed of the development explaining that the man came in a company of three people on a grey Toyota corolla and snatched air time proceeds believed to be in the excess of MK50 000 from a female airtime vendor who plies her trade at Bangwe Weaving Factory.

An eye witness named Steve said after snatching the money they sped off, leaving out one member of the gang on which the irate mob descended on.

The eye witness said the angry mob vowed to administer mob justice to serve as a lesson to other would be thugs.

“Bangwe police officers arrived when the mob had started setting the robber on fire to a hospital,” exclaimed the witness.
