Phalombe First Grade Magistrate Court has sentenced a 23 year old Dyson Macheso to 168 months imprisonment with hard labour for defiling his step daughter.
The convict committed the offense in December 2016.
According to facts presented in court during the judgement, the mother of the victim had gone to fetch firewood at the time the incident happened. She left the victim with her step-father who took advantage to defile the victim.
It is said that on that fateful day, Macheso called the victim aged 11 (name withheld) into the house where he asked her for sex and offered to give her K200.00 in return, but the girl resisted.
He then used force to grab his step-daughter, undressed her and forced himself on her. He threatened her not to tell anyone or she would be killed. Two days later, he defiled her again.
The court heard that the issue was kept a secret until the biological father of the victim intervened after he noticed the girl was having difficulties to walk. After asking her, she revealed of what had happened with her step-father.
The Matter was later reported to Migowi Police Unit who arrested the convict.
He pleaded guilty to Defilement charge contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code, and was eventually convicted.
