Mchinji police spokesperson Kaitano Lubrino has confirmed the death of a 55 year old head teacher who hanged himself following accusations that he impregnated a pupil.
According to Lubrino, the head teacher Laini Chirwa was being accused of impregnating a standard 7 learner from Mduwa primary school in Mchinji where he was working as a head teacher.
“Speculations triggered his wife Loveness Chirwa to confront him as to how true the reports were hence that led to an argument between the two,” disclosed Lubrino.
The next morning, the headteacher left his house and he was later found hanging from a tree within the schools’ woodlot.
Postmortem done at Mikundi Health Centre revealed that the death was due to strangulation.
Police have since advised the general community to opt for better ways of solving their problems rather than committing suicide.
