Police in Chipata have arrested a 48-year-old man for defiling his 15-year-old biological daughter and fathering a child with her, with the consent of the girl’s mother in a ritual aimed at making the family wealthy.
Eastern Province commissioner of police Alex Chilufya said in Chipata yesterday that Lameck Sakala and his daughter have been engaging in an incestuous sexual affair between 2014 and 2017 with the consent of the girl’s mother.
Mr Chilufya said Sakala ended up impregnating his daughter, who has since given birth.
He said the defilement happened at Chalo Chata village, Chief Mkanda’s area in Chipata district.
“Sakala defiled the minor, who is now with a two-month-one-week-old baby,” he said.
Mr Chilufya said the child was coerced into incest by both parents as a means of making the family rich.
He said Sakala’s wife has since died.
Mr Chilufya said Sakala will appear in court soon.
