Chakwera interrupted after a power cut in Parliament, Speaker apologizes

Parliament deliberations was nearly postponed on Monday afternoon following the power cuts that hits the August House as leader of opposition Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was responding to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered on Friday last week.

Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya apologized to Chakwera for the embarrassment and he later resumed his contribution after a backup generator started running.

“Sorry leader of opposition for the blackout,” said Msowoya.

Turning to Mutharika addressed, Chakwera described Mutharika address titled “Rising Above Macroeconomic Stability”, saying the speech was mis-titled.

He said that Mutharika government is the most corrupt government ever.
