A traffic officer missed a bullet by a whisker after a police constable based at Kamukunji Police Station fired live ammunition following a bitter disagreement on Wednesday, August 7.
The victim, Hillary Korir, was on duty along General Waruinge road when he arrested a passenger service vehicle (PSV) driver for driving without a clearance certificate.
The vehicle was escorted to Pangani Police Station but on it way, the driver made a phone call to Constable Abel Musati who quickly rushed to the scene.
Upon arriving at Kariokor roundabout, armed Musati intercepted the vehicle which he claimed was his and pulled his colleague out and asked the driver to drive off.
According to a police report, he then aggressively followed Korir and shot at him but the bullet missed the officer.
The suspect was later arrested and disarmed of his AK 47 and taken to police custody.
