Mzuzu Senior Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to eight suspects, who were arrested for assaulting and insulting the modesty of a woman in Mzuzu.
The court ordered them pay K100,000 each as surety and K200,000 non cash surities.
They have also been ordered to surrender their travel documents and should be reporting at Mzuzu Police every Friday.
Case has been adjourned to 25th and 26th February, 2020 for full trial.
The suspects are 40 year-old Lucky Gondwe; 30 year-old Martha Kawonga, 40 year-old Lucia Matupi; 30 year-old Taonga Nyangu; 35 year-old Eunice Chirwa; Chikondi Chirwa; Mines Ng’oma, 39, and 38 year-old Sabina Chirwa.
Charges leveled against them are Insulting the modesty of a woman, Assault (contrary to the Penal) and Cyber Stocking, contrary to Section 88 of the Electronic Transactions and Cyber Security Act [of 2016].
