CCAP Livingstonia Synod Tells Legislators ‘Voice of Malawians on Electoral Reforms’ Matters

Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) has challenged legislators to consider listening calls from ordinary Malawians on electoral reforms.

General Secretary for the Synod Levi Nyondo said this in a press statement seen by Face of Malawi.

In the statement speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara has been told to tell the Parliamentarians to respect Malawians in their decisions.

‘We commend you to your deliberations and ask that you reach a solution that restores the voice of all Malawians,” said Nyondo.

The statement further condemned those that are undermining the ‘important discussions’ to reconsider their actions.

Members of parliament (MPs) are expected to table the 51+1 electoral reform bill as ordered by the Constitutional Court.

On February 3, the court delivered its verdict on the presidential elections case, of which it was nullified

The Court stressed that a winner on the presidency position should be determined when one gets votes mounting to 51+1.
