India – A Class 12 student was allegedly shot dead by her brother on Saturday in Meerut’s Sardhana area.
Information gathered has identified the victim as Tina Chaudhary. Chaudhary sustained three bullet injuries. The injuries were on the victim’s private part, inner thigh and her back.
The police learned about the incident when the victim was taken to a hospital in the area with bullet injuries. The police took suo motu cognizance of the case and lodged an FIR against Chaudhary’s brother and detained four members of her family.
The police have claimed that Chaudhary’s brother is the prime accused in the case. Allegedly, the incident took place in the presence of Chaudhary’s parents.
Family’s objection to victim’s relationship
Allegedly, Chaudhary was in a relationship with a youth of her choice and her family objected to the same. Chaudhary’s family had also confronted her about the relationship, asking her to end it. The accused Kittu alias Prashant Chaudhary was also against his cousin’s relationship.
On Saturday, Kittu consumed alcohol with his friend Salman at a birthday party. Kittu allegedly shot at his sister in front of the entire family under the influence of alcohol and fled from the spot.
Allegedly, Chaudhary was taken to the hospital around 5-6 hours after the incident. Avinash Pandey, superintendent of police (rural areas) said that the body had turned pale when it was brought to the hospital.
