Race preparations almost over | Porter’s race | Capital FM Malawi


Over 300 athletes are expected to participate in this year’s Porter’s race which is scheduled for this weekend in Mulanje.

The race which is an annual event organised by the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust, is expected to take place on Saturday July 9th in the district.

Porter’s race is an international marathon that has over the years attracted athletes from as far as Europe and other parts of the world.

With two days to go before the race, which will see athletes running through the rocky paths of the mountain, organisers of the event say preparations have now reached an advanced stage.

Winners of the marathon are expected to get 50 thousand kwacha in both male and female categories.

However, speaking to capital fm communications officer for the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust Hastings Maloya says they are still anticipating registering more athletes by the time the close registry.
