Lilongwe to host Malawi Cultural Festival

Authorities at the Ministry of Tourism have organized a two day Malawi Cultural Festival-MACFEST to be held from September 22 to 23 at Crossroads hotel and Civo stadium in Lilongwe.

The festival aims at building a sense of national pride, identity and unity amongst citizens.

In a statement, the director of culture in the ministry of tourism Elizabeth Gomani Chindevu say the festival is in line with the United Nations universal declaration on cultural diversity.

The declaration calls for countries to celebrate world day for cultural diversity, dialogue and development.

According to Chindevu, the event will also support the diversity of arts and artists and give them the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the event.
