Inquest into Rudo Maware’s murder delivers verdict

A jury at the City’s Coroners Court has returned a verdict of unlawful killing at the inquest into the death of a Malawian woman who was strangled and dumped in a bag.

The remains of Rudo Maware were left in a holdall bag on at St David’s Terrace on Blackhrose Avenue last January.

The inquest heard the young student had left her Rathmines home to break up with her Zimbabwean boyfriend, but never returned.

He took his own life four days later, leaving a suicide note confessing to murdering a woman in his flat.
