Tanzania denies targetting Malawians

The Tanzanian government has denied claims that Malawians are being targeted in Xenophobic attacks in the country as written by the Malawi news of September 14-20.

According to Tanzanian government spokesperson, Assah Mwambene, Tanzania was going through a routine exercise of flushing out illegal immigrants and it was not only Malawians that were being subjected to having their legality in being in the country that has recently been in a foul relationship with Malawi over the ownership of the lake.

Mwambene described the claims as malicious and indicated that the government of Tanzania will follow all proper legal channels to make sure that the issue was well dealt with and put in a proper perspective.
