The Malawi Congress Party president, Lazarus Chakwera, has registered today for the 2014 tripartite elections in which he shall stand as a torchbearer for his party.
Chakwera has registered at Kalembo Primary School in Lilongwe North West Constituency. He becomes the fourth and last of the hot contenders for the Presidency to register after DPP’s Peter Mutharika, PP’s Joyce Banda and UDF’s Atupele Muluzi already registered in their home villages in that order.
Speaking after the registration, not at the centre, Chakwera said that once voted into power in 2014 he will introduce a universal fertilizer subsidy unlike the one existent currently which target a specific group of people.
