Former minister of Justice whose bail application has been slapped into the face until November 22 has been committed to Zomba maximum security prison, FaceofMalawi understands.
Kasambara who was arrested on November 8 was being kept at the Kachere juvenile center in Lilongwe but plans are underway to have him transferred to Zomba after the failure of his bail application to go through today as the Director of Public Prosecutions, Bruno Kalemba, argued that the state needs much time owing to the complexity of the case.
It has been said that the Police cannot continue keeping him in their custody for that long but have to see to it that he is transferred.
The court also this morning rejected Kasambara’s plea that he gets a personal doctor to be attending to him for his heart problem that saw him failing to make it to court this morning after an alleged collapse before departure for court.
When he appeared in court on Monday, Kasambara was jovial in his black suit with an orange necktie and a badge that had the face of the country’s President, Joyce Banda. He even told the people around that the case will head nowhere and should tag him in the photos they were taking of him on Facebook.
