16yr old British student raises over K6million for charity to support teachers and schools in rural Malawi

Barr-Jones Associates were delighted to exhibit at the recent TrAIDe Fair organised by Jack Whithead from Bishop’s Stortford College – helping the event raise more than £10,000 for Inspire Malawi.

The charity supports, promotes and enhances primary and secondary education in Malawi. Organised by 16-year-old student Jack Whitehead, the event featured more than 75 exhibitors and hundreds of visitors.

“We were impressed when we heard about the event,” said Managing Director Vida Barr-Jones. “Our business is all about helping entrepreneurs develop their businesses, so supporting Jack was a great opportunity.

“We also believe in the fundamental importance of education, so it was a perfect fit for us. Our stand gave us the chance to be seen by local businesses and also support Cllr Janice Elliott, the Mayor of Bishop’s Stortford.”

“We manned the stand all day and it gave us a great opportunity to network with other businesses,” says Bridget Webb from BJA. “It’s always inspirational to work with people like Jack, who shows real promise as an entrepreneur. A project like this gives everyone the opportunity to find out what other businesses are doing.

“To help raise such a great sum of money for such a deserving cause makes it all worthwhile. Young people in Malawi don’t have the opportunities our children do and at BJA we think it’s important to help where we can.”

Barr-Jones Associates ran a prize draw to win a bottle of champagne and it was Adrian Bradshaw from the Bishop’s Stortford Flyer on the next stand whose card was pulled out of the hat.
