Organisers of the Miss Malawi UK beauty contest say the 2014 grand finale is slated for September. They have also disclosed that so far, eight girls have registered.
While disclosing September 13 as the date of the competition’s grand finals, Henry Dokowe Ngwira of H&K Events, told nyasashowbiz.com that Miss Malawi UK 2014 will be unveiled on the August 2.
“On the 9th August we will launch Miss Malawi UK with Tay Grin performing live in Nottingham. The show will be on 13th of September where Piksy, Mlaka Maliro and Ethel Kamwendo will be performing,” said Ngwira on Monday.
Miss Malawi UK is a beauty contest open to young women of Malawian origin residing in the United Kingdom, aged between 16 and 28.
Ngwira revealed: “Registration has started and is ongoing till the 10th August. We have eight girls registered so far and we’re hoping to get 15 contestants.”
According to Ngwira, Tay Grin’s performance on the day of the launch will be preceded by a football tournament named the Malawian Queen football Trophy which will see eight teams competing.
“We have six Malawian teams from Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Coventry, Leicester, and Derby. The other two are a Congo team from Nottingham and a Zimbabwean team from Birmingham,” indicated Ngwira.
The reigning Miss Malawi UK is Alexina Phiri.
