AIRTEL MW DONATES BUS SHELTER TO MOAM

Minibus Owners Association of Malawi (MOAM) has hailed leading mobile telecommunications operator Airtel Malawi for the donation of a bus shelter construction, following a proposal the association made to Airtel.

MOAM General Secretary Coxley Kamange made the remarks this week in Blantyre when Airtel Malawi handed over a newly constructed bus shelter to MOAM at the city’s main minibus terminal, Mibawa.

“We are so happy today that the proposal we sent to Airtel has finally been answered. As MOAM, we have a number of major plans to facelift the Mibawa minibus terminal to desirable standards,” Kamange said adding that MOAM would be vigilant in maintaining the structure and guarding it against vandalism.

In her remarks, Airtel’s Head Enterprise Rachel Mijiga said the donation illustrated the brand’s contribution towards enhancing the quality of the welfare of commuters in the country.

She further said Airtel has pledged to continue supporting community initiatives that stand to change the public stance with respect to environmental stewardship to contribute to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the city of Blantyre.

Before handing over the bus shelter, Airtel staff invaded the Mibawa arena with brooms and cleaned the entire campus.

Airtel’s donation of a bus shelter comes barely a month after Mayor of Blantyre City called on the private sector to assist the assembly in enhancing improved service delivery.
