Balaka Police have arrested a 29 year old James Dinala for allegedly killing his own mother.
Dinala hails from Mitochi village, Traditional Authority Nsamala in the district.
FaceofMalawi speaking to Balaka Police spokesperson Joseph Sauka, said the suspected is believed to have “history of psychiatric problems”.
Dinala murdered his mother Ester Dinala last Friday after quarrying over a plastic bucket.
“The deceased, Ester Dinala, took the suspect’s plastic bucket to draw water, but this did not please her son who resorted to beating and kicking her.”
“Ester fell to the ground and died on spot,” explained Sauka.
A Postmortem conducted at Balaka district hospital revealed that the 44 year-old woman died due to internal bleeding.
The suspect is expected to appear in court before being referred to a Mental Hospital for treatment,” added the officer.
