An Albino woman was brutally murdered in Mulanje district and dumped in a trench with both legs and arms chopped off by unknown thugs.
According to police the deceased woman identified as 25 year old Violet Kanyama was murdered on Wednesday evening in Gwana Village in the mountainous southern region district.
The woman was last seen with a man known to be her lover.
Albinism is a defect of melanin production that results in little or no colour (pigment) in the skin, hair, and eyes.
Police also believe that killers are selling albino body parts such as; limbs, hair, skin and genitals to traditional medicine practitioners for witchcraft purposes as there is belief that the parts have magical powers that could bring wealth and power.
Police have since launched an investigating of the murder suspects, but human rights organisations have condemned the act and urged investigators to quickly get to the bottom of what is happening.
