POLICE SHOOTS A FOOTBALL FAN AT KAMUZU STADUM

A TNM Super League match between Might Be Forward Wanderers and Moyale Barracks had to be stopped three times in second half following chaotic scenes that marred the match.

The ugly scenes erupted outside the Stadium where Police officers shot a 15-year old boy twice in the stomach as they were chasing a fan suspected to have stolen a mobile phone.

The development did not go down well with the fans who reacted by stoning the Police. In retaliation the officers fired teargas to disperse the crowd.

Instead of dispersing the angry mob which was searching for the revenge ended up disturbing the match in the Kamuzu Stadium as smoke was all over.

Contrary to information hovering on the social media that the boy died on the spot, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) said the boy is admitted at the hospital but in critical condition.

Police are yet to come up with the particulars of the boy.

This is the second football violence at Kamuzu Stadium as the first violence happened during match between Fisd Wizard FC, formerly known as surestream FC against Red Lions.

The match led to the death of a soccer fan identified as Godfrey Mwale who was beaten by Malawi Defence Force Soldiers.
