TWO PEOPLE KILLED IN MINIBUS ACCIDENT IN ZOMBA: 8 OTHERS SERIOUSLY INJURED

Two people are reported dead while eight others are battling for their lives at Zomba Central Hospital after a minibus they were travelling in overturned near 6 miles this morning.

Eastern Region Police Spokesperson Thomeck Nyaude confirmed of the development in an interview with FaceofMalawi and identified the deceased as the driver of the minibus Clement Mkungazula and a three-year-old boy.

According to Nyaude, the minibus registration number NU 3353 which belongs to Kilimanjaro Tours was travelling from Mangochi heading to Limbe in Blantyre.

Nyaude said the accident happened as the driver of the minibus was trying to overtake another minibus and he failed to negotiate a sharp bend.

He said the Child died on the spot while the driver was pronounced dead upon arrival at Zomba Central Hospital.

Mkungazula hails from Traditional Authority (T/A) Msamala in Mangochi District.
