A 20 year old man is in police custody at Luchenza police station for defiling a standard three pupil of Luchenza primary school.
The victim who is 10 years old met her fate on 3rd October after she went to a video show with a friend around 6 pm.
The suspect, Richard Robert convinced the young girl to follow him outside the video show room where she took her to a hidden dark place and forced himself into the pupil.
Speaking in an interview, Luchenza Police Officer In charge, Senior Superintendent Isaiah Mlowoka said Robert was arrested after the mother of the victim, Lucy Ronald reported the incident to police.
The mother to the victim said around 5 o’clock she went to see her friend and upon arrival back home she discovered that her daughter was not home.
“She suspected that she had gone to a video show room and she followed.
“She was told that the girl walked out of the video show room with the suspect. After some time the suspect came back and when he was asked about the girl he denied walking out of the video show room with the girl and that he was not aware of her where about,” Mlowoka explained.
He added; “A few minutes later the pupil came and reported to her mother that Robert undressed her and forced her to have sex.”
Meanwhile Robert has accepted committing the offence but alleged that the two agreed to have sex and that he paid the girl K2000.
Currently police are waiting for a medical report to take the suspect to court to answer defilement charge.
Both the suspect and the victim hail from Namkumwa Village, Traditional Authority Mkalo in Chiradzulu district.mana
