JEALOUS MAN SLAPPED 6 YEARS JAIL SENTENCE

A court in Dedza has sentenced a man to 6 years imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting a man he found red handed making love with his wife.
The man Limbikani Chaponda left his house recently this year to attend to the wedding ceremony within the village.

According to Sub Inspector wedson Nyondo, Chaponda returned home around 1900 hours which was much earlier than what his wife expected.

There was no sign of his wife in the house so he decided to check around. When he arrived home he checked inside the house but there was no sign of his wife. He heard some noises behind the house. He went to check only to find his wife making love to 22 year old Mateyu William from the same village.

He returned into the house where he took a metal bar which he used to hit William twice on the chest. William fell unconscious but his parents rushed to the scene and took him to the hospital where he was admitted.

Chaponda was arrested the same day and he pleaded guilty to the charge. He said he failed to control his temper after finding his wife whom he trusted making love to another man. He further asked the court for leniency saying he needed to look after his family.

Passing sentence First Grade Magistrate Symon Mwambo said Chapola used a wrong method when resolving his marital problem since he nearly killed victim. He said the sentence should be a warning to other would be offenders who take the law into their hands whenever they feel offended.

Limbikani Chaponda 29 and Mateyu William comes from Njuchi village in the area of Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza.
