A 42-year-old man is in police custody in Nkhata-Bay for allegedly defiling his own 4-year old biological daughter.
Police in Nkhata-Bay have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofMalawi and identified the suspect as Blackson Mhone.
It is alleged that between 02-05/11/2015 the mother of the victim,left home and went to her village leaving the girl with her father.
According to police, the suspect then took advantage of the mother’s absence and sexually abused the child.
“When the mother came back, she noticed that the child was having difficulties in walking and sitting. After being asked, it was revealed that it was the father of the child who sexually abused her. The mother reported the matter to Nkhatabay police who arrested the suspect,” reads the statement.
Medical examination conducted at Nkhatabay District Hospital showed that the child was indeed sexually abused.
The suspect will soon appear in court to answer a charge of Incest which is contrary to Section 157 of the Penal Code.
Blackson Mhone comes from Nthulinga village, Traditional Authority Timbili in Nkhatabay district.
