MALAWI DEFENCE FORCE SOLDIER KILLED IN DRC

Malawi Defence Force soldier under the United Nations peace keeping mission in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been killed in the recent rebel attack which has claimed 30 lives.

The attack happened on Sunday.

MDF Spokesperson Paul Chiphwanya confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the privately owned radio in the country and identified the deceased as Dyson Mayao, 50.

Mayao hails from Ntata village in chief Mabuka’s area in Mulanje and he was working as a motorman during the attack.

Sunday’s clashes broke out in the town of Eringeti, 55 km (35 miles) north of the regional hub of Beni, when ADF rebels attacked a military headquarters.
