MZOMERA NGWIRA THREATENS TO DEAL WITH JB’s SYMPATHIZERS: SAYS HE IS A MAFIA

Opposition People’s Party (PP) provincial chair for the Northern Region Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has threatened to deal with regional members who are against his idea of having former Vice President Khumbo Kachali as the Party’s President replacing Dr. Joyce Banda.

Ngwira, one of the advocates for federalism in the country made headlines when he fired the Party founder Dr. Joyce Banda who is currently in self-imposed exile and replaced her with Kachali, the decision which was vehemently rejected by the Party.

The move also led to his suspension which was later reversed by the Party after disciplinary hearing as requested by Banda.

According to information at hand, Ngwira issued the threats on Sunday during a meeting held in the region.

PP top official Oscar Chisi confirmed of the threats in an interview with Daily Times, saying the opposing camp held an emergency meeting on the matter on Monday.

“While pointing at me and Ziffer Mumba who is Director of Research and also referring to our JB camp members, Ngwira said he is a mafia.

“He knows our homes, businesses and everything. He said he did big things when he was with DPP… who are we? We are very small…and he will finish us completely,” said Chisi.

When approached for comment, Ngwira said his threat was political not Physical.

JB camp comprises Acting Regional Secretary Violet Chituzu Nyirenda, Director of Youth Lackson Stambuli, Director of Research Ziffer Mumba and his deputy Oscar Kaunda, Deputy Director of Women Jane Msiska, Deputy Organising Secretary Ipyana Nthakomwa and eight other regional committee members.

Banda left the country for United States of America just after the May 20, 2014 tripartite election which saw the then opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) emerging victorious.

Her trip to US raised a lot of speculations with others accusing her of running away from the ongoing investigations to the looting of public funds dubbed cashgate the thing which she denied.
