PAC MEETING: MUTHARIKA TOLD TO VOLUNTARILY LEAVE STATE HOUSE

A two days meeting organized by Public Affairs Committee (PAC) in the commercial capital Blantyre ended on Thursday with delegates calling for the immediate resignation of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, saying he has failed to run the affairs of the State.

Speaking on behalf of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Jessie Kabwila who is also the Party’s Spokesperson said Mutharika has failed Malawians in various aspect one of it being failing to come up with the situation to the hunger situation in the country.

Kabwila said during the 31 year rule of MCP under Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda there was no such a situation in the country as everyone was food secured.

On his part, People’s Party (PP) Vice President for the north Kamlepo Kalua and spokesperson Ken Msonda said its well-known fact by every Malawian that the country is being run by incompetent leader who has no vision for the nation hence the troubles.

“As People’s Party we want Mutharika to immediately resign.. We are giving him 30 days,” said Msonda.

Adding his voice, Kalua said Mutharika should pack his luggage and leave the State House in peace, saying 90 days is enough for him.

The development led to a total chaos in the meeting as Minister of Information, Toursim and Civic Education Jappie Mhango stood in anger in defence of President Mutharika, saying the call is non-starter.

As this was no enough, Cabinet threatens to walk out of the meeting if PAC will regard the points said by MCP and PP as part of the resolutions.

Moderator of meeting Henry Chingayipe said those are just the points raised by the delegates but PAC is the one will come up with the resolutions after analyzing the minutes of the meeting.
