Four people are battling for their lives at Kasungu District Hospital after being attacked by hyena suspected to have escaped from Kasungu National Park on Monday.
Kasungu Police Spokesperson, Edna Mzingwitsa confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
Mzingwitsa said the hyena attacked the 16-year old girl her mother before attacking two men were who trying to kill it.
He said the mother and the girl were in the garden during the incident.
“The girl in the company of her mother was in the garden planting sweet potatoes. While there, a vicious hyena attacked her and she sustained serious injuries on various parts of her body. She is receiving treatment at Mchinji District Hospital,” said Mzingwitsa.
Mzingwitsa said the three are currently receiving treatment Kasungu District Hospital.
Meanwhile the said hyena has been killed by irate villagers.
