MALAWI’s FIRST LADY AWARDED DOCTORATE OF PHILOSOPHY IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that the University of Malawi (UNIMA) has awarded Malawi’s First Lady Gertrude Mutharika with a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Management.

The development means Madam Mutharika will now be called Dr. Gertrude Mutharika.

According to the statement circulating on the social media which has puzzled many, indicates that the doctorate has been issued by Polytechnic.

Inside sources say Madam Mutharika has been awarded the degree for her active role in maintaining the country’s beauty through Beautify Malawi project (BEAM) which was launched last year.

Through the initiative, Madam Mutharika has been in towns and cities of the country mobilizing citizens in taking care of the environment by making sure that their surrounding is clean.
