Five people are battling for their lives at Mangochi District Hospital after eating relish suspected to have been poisoned by unknown Woman.
Mangochi Police Spokesperson, Rodrick Maida has confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country.
According to Maida, the suspect only identified as ‘Mayi wabwino’ prepared some vetegables which she gave to her neighbour and told her to safely keep the relish for her (neighbour’s) husband so that he would eat as soon as he got back from work.
Maida said the ordeal went sour when the said relish meant for one person was stolen and shared by 5 people.
“When the mother of the child noticed that the relish had been tampered with and that too little was left to keep, she finished the leftovers,” said Maida.
He said when the suspect realized what had happened, she fled.
The 5 victims were rushed to the hospital and are now feeling better.
Meanwhile Police are hunting to the suspect who is currently at large.
