MIKE APPEL AND GATTO REOPENED AFTER 18 DAYS OF CLOSURE

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) on Wednesday re-opened motor franchise dealer Mike Appel and Gatto premises after closing them 18 days ago.

MRA sealed the premises in Lilongwe and Blantyre and took away motor vehicles from the showroom for the company’s failure to settle a K1.2 billion tax bill.

However, eight days after MRA sealed the premises, Mike Appel took MRA to court for contempt. The case was supposed to be heard on Monday but the two parties agreed to settle it out of court.
