KCN students protest updates: four Journalists arrested for taking photos of the protest

Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that Police in Lilongwe this morning detained four journalists for allegedly taking photos of the protest by Kamuzu College of Nursing students against fee hike.

Police used teargas to disperse the angry students who blocked entry to Kamuzu Central Hospital with burning tyres.

The four detained journalists included Times Group journalist Ntchindi Meki, cameraman Snoden Kadzakumanja, and photojournalist Bonnex Julius.

The Police also detained Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) FM journalist, Lifu Litete.

Police accused the four journalists of taking pictures of the law enforcers who were involved in clashes with the students who are protesting against the fees hike which the University of Malawi has affected across its constituent colleges.

Meanwhile the four journalists have been released.
