Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will this week receive an accolade of honour at the 2016 African Achievers Awards for the visionary leadership which is laying good ground for Malawi’s next generations through sustainable development.
President Mutharika is getting recognition from across the globe for his transformative leadership which among others include Public Sector Reforms, Skills Development through Community Technical Colleges and operating with a small government for austerity sake.
The high level event is produced, managed and maintained by the Institute of Leadership and Management (a West African Leading Leadership Institute) and Achievers Media.
The African Achievers Awards ceremony is aimed at recognising excellent individuals including organisations that have distinguished themselves while contributing to the growth and development of Africa
.
Also on the list of awardees are Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by the richest man in the world, Mosima Gabriel “Tokyo” Sexwale; one of top ten successful Businessmen in South Africa and President of Zambia Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
A statement from AAA says these persons are being honored for their works and contributions towards the growth and advancement of the African continent.
“These high dignitaries will be honoured for the unprecedented contributions and legacies they have laid down for generations. The focus is to motivate all African leaders, including prospective leaders and the youth by recognising individuals and organisations that have contributed remarkably to the development of Africa,” reads part of the statement.
Themed: “Securing a Stable Energy Future for Africa”, this year’s event – which is the 6th edition of African Achievers Awards- will be held at the International Conference Center in Abuja, Nigeria this coming Friday, July 8, 2016.
Other nominees include: John Momoh (Chairman, Channels TV), Johnson Arthur Sakaja (National Chairman of Ruling Party in Kenya), Mosima Gabriel (Former Minister, SA), Miss Angelle Kwemo (CEO, Rimsom Strategies), Nakedi Mathews Phosa (Politician, SA), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Hon Thapelo Olopeng (Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, Botswana).
The awards, which has been hosted in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and the United Kingdom, have been received by other admired Africans such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the late former President of Ghana, John Evans Atta-Mills, John Fashanu, Platinumz Diamond, Dr Charles Dimnwaobi and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
