Opposition People’s Party (PP) provincial chair for the north Sherbone Mchizi has resigned from his position and the party barely nine months of his appointment.
Mchizi was appointed on the position earlier this year after the Party expelled Christopher Mzomera Ngwira for endorsing former Vice President Khumbo Kachali as the Party’s President replacing Dr. Joyce Banda.
Mchizi confirmed of his resignation in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country Nation Newspaper, saying he wants to concentrates on personal business.
But PP spokesperson Noel Chimpeni trashed Mchizi’s claims, saying the Party fired him from his position.
According to Chimpeni, the Party has replaced him with Maquenda Chunga, Member of Parliament for Mzimba South.
Mchizi’s resignation comes barely weeks after the resignation of the Party’s spokesperson Ken Msonda.
The resignation of Msonda raised eyebrows with others accusing President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika of offering him MK12 million to fight Kamlepo Kalua, member of Parliament for Rumphi East.
