MTL GUARDS SHOOT SUSPECT IN THE LINE OF DUTY

Lilongwe police station relations officer, inspector Kingsley Dandaula has on Thursday confirmed the shooting of one suspect, Evison Lakiyoni, who was on a mission to steal MTL cables in Lilongwe area 15.

The suspect and his colleague only known as Patrick,  were seen and confronted by MTL guards on duty when they started throwing stones that made the guards to respond by shooting in the air as to scare the two.

“The suspects were stubborn and hence the guards resorted to fire at them and the bullet went straight on the victim`s buttocks and fell down” Kingsley Dandaula concluded.

The police said the victim is in fair condition at Kamuzu Central Hospital but investigations are underway to capture the other suspect who escaped unhurt.

Evison Lakiyoni hails from Fote village in the area traditional authority Nsabwe in Thyolo district but he is a chinsapo 1 resident in Lilongwe.
