Update on demonstrations: Many shops closed in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzuzu

Many shops in Blantyre CBD, Limbe & Ginnery Corner remain closed as Malawians are today protesting against President Peter Mutharika’s leadership & several social, economic & political ills in the country.
For instance in Blantyre, Game Stores, Chipiku Shop located at Ginnery Corner and many shops owned by Chinese nationals have not opened its doors and many people have not reported for work.
Most of the locations in Blantyre that are considered hotspots such as Ndirande,Bangwe and Zingwangwa are calm.
However, there’s a heavy presence of armed police around the city #MADemo2018:
