JB says Malawi is on fire

Former President Dr. Joyce Banda has said the country needs special prayers arguing that a lot of strange things are happening which in her opinion only prayers can heal and cleanse the country.

Banda said this during her first ever rally at Domasi in Zomba on Sunday after returning from self-imposed exile.

“I say this with no fear of contradiction and apologies: this country needs healing. This country is on fire. It is burning. There is so much animosity, pain, hatred so many calamities; people murdering each other, albinos being killed…

“I don’t want to blame anybody. I just think the whole country needs healing. This nation needs special prayers,” Banda said.

Speaking on the warrant of arrest obtained by the police regarding the Cashgate scandal which happened during her tenure of office, Banda said she is not afraid of anything.

“I can never worry about cashgate until my dying day because the Baker Tilly report and the Anti Corruption Bureau cleared me of those allegations” – Banda.

Banda left the country just after the May 20, 2014 tripartite election which saw President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika emerging victorious.
