Chimunthu Banda set to rejoin DPP

Former Speaker of the National Assembly Henry Chimunthu Banda is set to rejoin the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

According to information at hand, Chimunthu Banda will be welcomed into the party today by President Mutharika in his home district in Nkhotakota.

Inside sources who have confided to faceofmalawi reporter have said that Chimunthu Banda is earmarked for the post of runningmate in the forthcoming 2019 tripartite election.

Chimunthu Banda dumped frontline politics in 2013 after losing the presidential race at the party’s convention.

The former Speaker made headlines during the reign of late Bingu wa Mutharika where he was appointed as Minister of Energy and Mining.
