Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA)-Malawi chapter has hailed Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) for a five hundred thousand kwacha donation towards the construction of its offices in Lilongwe.
Vice Chairperson for MISA -Fundraising Committee, Edith Tsilizani made these remarks at LWB offices Wednesday during a cheque symbolic presentation.
She described the sum as a great push up towards meeting its thirty million kwacha target meanwhile asking other organizations to emulate the gesture by LWB.
“We appreciate LWB so much, for valuing the role of media and importance of communication. With this positive reaction from the public we hope that by December 2018, we will hit half of our budget,” said Tsilizani.
She added that MISA has been housed in a rented building for a long time saying it is unhealthy as it is very costly.
Speaking during the press briefing LWB, Chief Executive Officer, and Alfonso Chikuni appealed to the media to work in partnership in order for the two parties to mutually benefit.
“Without a clean and conducive office space and environment people may not work well, hence our donation made today which is elbowing you financially so that you gain momentum towards the dream of building your own offices.
“Let us move on the same page and cement our relationship so that our five year corporate strategy turns into fruition,” said Chikuni.
Lilongwe Water Board works towards its mission statement of providing adequate water supplying services in a sustainable, efficient and customer responsive manner.
