Govt lifts suspension on FISP Coupons

Government through Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development has lifted a the suspension of the 2018-19 Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP) coupon distribution as well as redemption of farm inputs using coupons with effect from Monday, 12th November, 2018.

This has been disclosed in a press statement released on Tuesday signed by Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Gray Nyandule Phiri made available to faceofmalawi.

Two weeks ago, government suspended the exercise following the anomalies that rocked the whole exercise.

“The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development wishes to inform the general public and all stakeholders that it has lifted the suspension of the 2018-19 Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP) coupon distribution as well as redemption of farm inputs using coupons with effect from Monday, 12th November, 2018.

“This has been done following initial reconciliation of allocations by a majority of district councils. This validation phase has been deemed successful by the said stakeholders,” reads in part the statement.

Nyandule Phiri added: “The Ministry would therefore like to take this opportunity to appreciate the remarkable support it got during the reconciliation and urges all stakeholders to continue the collaboration during the first phase of program implementation.”

The Ministry has since introduced the toll free number: 60606 where people will be reporting any anomaly.
