Chakwera names Mia as his runningmate in 2019 polls

Main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has picked well-known businessman Muhammad Sidik Mia as his runningmate ahead of the forthcoming 2019 tripartite election.

Chakwera disclosed this during a rally at Mtakataka ground in the Eastern District of Mangochi on Sunday.

In his speech Mia accused other especially from other political parties of attempting to make the two part ways, saying that won’t work.

“I will pair with Sidik Mia,” said Chakwera.

Chakwera added that once elected in the forthcoming 2019 polls he will be the President for all weather Christians or Muslims.

On his part, Mia was over the moon after the announcements.

Meanwhile analysts have said the announcement will deter other political parties from forming an alliance with MCP.
