A 25 year old woman is in Police cell in Mponela, Dowa for allegedly stabbing her husband to death over disagreements on financial matters.
Dowa Police Public Relations Officer Richard Kaponda confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Irene Yohane.
According to Kaponda, the incident happened on Monday night.
The police said the woman used a knife to kill her husband, Rashid Milanzi, after they disagreed on how to spend K2, 500 she had realized from piece work.
“The husband arrived home very drunk and demanded the said money for another round of drinking spree. The woman refused to hand over the cash this angered the deceased who took a knife to stub his wife but the woman overpowered him and stabbed him in the stomach,” said Kaponda in an interview with the press.
Meanwhile the woman will appear in court soon to answer murder charges.
