Ex-Minister Henry Phoya joins UTM after dumping DPP

Former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Henry Phoya has once again dumped the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and joined the newly registered United Transformation Movement (UTM) of Saulos Chilima.

Phoya returned to DPP in January this year and was welcomed to the party together with Brown Mpinganjira who is now serving as board chair of Roads Authority and Reverend Daniel Gunya who also serving as Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) board chair.

But on Monday, Phoya was spotted attending UTM convention at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) putting on the party’s regalia.

When approached for comment Phoya disclosed that he has dumped DPP and joined UTM.

He described the decision as personal.
