BY CHINSINSI CHEKETA

A 75 year old boozer granny has on Thursday died after taking an excessive distilled Kachasu beer on an empty stomach at Kanyangale fishing camp in Nkhotakota district.

Confirming the incident, the district’s deputy police publicist Constable Paul Malimwe identified the deceased as Petrol Zuze Shamboko who hailed from Thawe village in the area of Traditional Author (T/A) Mlolo in Nsanje district.

Constable Malimwe said, according to the deceased neighbor Mussa Salima, the deceased who used to stay alone and was popularly known as a drunkard, reportedly went missing on 31 December last year.

“On Thursday, Mussa was surprised to note that his neighbor is still no where to be found”, Malimwe said.

According to police reports,  his missing prompted Mussa to report the matter to the chairman of the said camp, whom together with the reporter went to the house of the deceased looking for the deceased.

Upon arrival, they found the deceased lifeless at the sitting room with some bruises on his face.

The matter was reported to Mkaika police unit whom upon received the sad news rushed to the scene of the case.
