Another Zambia Police officer commits suicide by shooting himself using an AK 47 rifle

ZAMBIA – A 34-year old male Police Constable in Namwala identified as Elzier Lubinda has shot himself dead using an AK 47 rifle.

Deputy Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the officer shot himself through the chin and the bullet came out through the right eye.

He said the incident occurred this morning around 01:30hrs at Namwala Police inquiries office when the deceased was on shift.

Hamoonga said police visited the scene and found the deceased laying down facing upwards with the firearm on his chest.

He said a projectile was also recovered at the scene.

Hamoonga said the body has since been deposited at Namwala District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
