Mutharika Calls on Cadets to Celebrate Responsibly

President Peter Mutharika has called on his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Supporters to celebrate responsibly following their victory in the May 21 tripartite elections.

Mutharika, speaking at the rally he addressed at saint Augustine3 primary school ground pleaded with the supporters to avoid insulting their opponents whilst celebrating their victory.

“For us who won, let us not ridicule those who lost. They tried their best, maybe luck was not on their side,” Mutharika said.

He then asked those who lost the elections to accept defeat and join him in building the country on the other hand encouraging them to wait for 2014.

“In any competition, in an election, there can only be one winner. If you lose learn to accept defeat gracefully, and learn to say maybe next time,” he said.

He, however added that that next time will not either be 2024, citing that they will probably lose again.

“Maybe next time they will win but the way things are I doubt it. In 2024 they will lose again.

DPP supporters are planning of holding victory celebration match in all cities across the country in the same week Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have planned to hold Anti-Ansah demonstrations.
