A Malawi police officer has died after her car rammed into another car at Kapidigulo along Chikwawa-Nchalo road.
Chikwawa police station public relations officer, Sergeant Foster Benjamin has identified the female officer as Sub Inspector Martha Chigeda of Marka police unit in Nsanje district.
Benjamin said the officer sustained waist injuries in an accident that took place on Monday evening at about 18:00 hours.
“Chigeda was driving her Toyota Corolla MC 8119 from Blantyre to Nsanje.
“She is said to have collided with an oncoming Toyota Corolla which swerved off its lane from the opposite direction. The driver, Charles Taliona, and his passenger, Charles Phiri, were both seriously injured while the police officer sustained a cut on her waist,” explained the PRO.
Both casualties were rushed to Chikwawa District Hospital where they are being treated on.
Their vehicles were extensively damaged.
