United Transformation Movement (UTM) Councillor for Gomani Chikuse Ward has been elected Jumbe Kunimba Mambo has been elected as new Ntcheu District Council Chairperson.
Mambo outclassed David Kwachela of Kasinje ward by 9 votes against 8 votes.
He will be deputized by Kandeu Ward UTM Councillor, Flanes Kampeni.
In his acceptance speech, Councillor Mambo said he will enhance transparency and accountability at the council with the aim propelling development in the district.
He said Members of parliament and councillors should build a good relationship and concentrate on developmental issues for the district as a whole.
