A 33-year old minibus touter Patrick Alid was found dead at Liwonde in Machinga District after drinking alcohol on an empty stomach.
Machinga Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Gwashape Msume confirmed the death of Valid on Saturday, saying his body was found in the early hours of July 18, 2019 near Liwonde Bus Deport.
She said the matter was then reported to Liwonde Police and the body of the deceased was then taken to Machinga District Hospital for postmortem.
The postmortem examination has since revealed that death was due to drinking of alcohol on an empty stomach, according to Msume.
“The deceased was coming from Village Nayiluwa in Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District,” she said.
Meanwhile, Police in the district is appealing to the public to avoid drinking alcohol on an empty stomach.
